Adverse Childhood Experiences are experiences of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, emotional or physical neglect, and household distress such as witnessing parental separation or a family member with mental illness.

In all healthcare professional programs, students will be educated about chronic diseases, chronic illness, morbidity, and mortality, however the consequences of Adverse Childhood Experiences may or may not be incorporated in these curricula. ACEs Made Visible has been made for these students as they will likely encounter the effects of ACEs in their practice on a daily basis.
